OLD DOG SCHEME:
Harvey has a skin condition and requires to take steroids daily, the treatment for this will be covered by the Society’s Old Dog Scheme.
The Dog Aid Society’s Old Dog Scheme covers dogs re-homed at 8 years old or above. This means that the Society will cover costs for veterinary care for the dog for the remainder of their life within reason. We do not cover costs for routine treatments such as vaccinations, worming and flea treatment. If the dog requires special dietary food we will contribute 50% of the cost.
This will alleviate the worry of the financial implications taking an older dog into your home. Older dogs make great pets! Why not consider an older dog?
Harvey is a very sweet and loving little boy. He has lots of love to give and is looking for a new home through no fault of his own. Harvey unfortunately does have a skin condition and requires a daily steroid to help keep this under control. As Harvey is over 8 years old he will go onto the Society’s Old Dog Scheme and as part of this we will cover the cost of his medication for his skin condition.
Harvey is very friendly with people however he may jump up for attention. Harvey is good with young children but would prefer not to live with them. Therefore we are happy for visiting children over the age of 5 years old. As Harvey is on steroids it makes him hungry and he has been known to steal food from young children. Harvey is good with dogs when he is off lead, however can be aggressive towards other dogs when he is on his lead. Harvey would like to be the only pet in home. He can walk well on a lead but can pull. With further training this can be helped.
Despite being over 8 years old, he is still very active and enjoys nice long walks. When the weather is too hot for walks he enjoys sunbathing in the garden. Harvey likes to use his brain and would love to learn some new tricks. He knows how to sit, get back and go to bed.
He does enjoy a relaxing life, so a nice quiet home where his new owners have experience with fiesty Terriers would be ideal for him. Harvey unfortunately does have a barking issue. He will bark at many different sounds such as the door bell, car doors opening and closing, the sound of people talking and many more. He does also constantly bark when travelling. Due to his barking Harvey is looking for a home where there are no close neighbours as this has caused issues previously. Harvey would love to have company during the day as this is what he is currently used to.
If you can see past his barking and can offer Harvey a quiet home away from any neighbours, he will show you what a clever little affectionate dog he can be!
